A Special Message from Marshall’s Memere
I’ll never forget how overjoyed I was that Sunday afternoon
in February, 2002 when Laurie & Mark announced that they were
expecting a baby in August. My first grandchild! Wow! I couldn’t
imagine it . . . a whole new generation starting! Going to ultrasound
appointments was such an awesome experience for me since I never
had them with my own pregnancies. From the very first time I saw
that tiny little body in Laurie’s belly, I felt a relationship
was beginning already. Watching Laurie’s belly grow bigger
and bigger brought greater excitement as the delivery date approached.
On August 16, 2002 my first grandchild, Marshall Daniel Mo Potter,
was born!
The first time I saw
Marshall, I picked him up, held him close to me, and cried
and cried! I thought, “He’s beautiful!
A whole new generation! How Pepe Mo would have loved his grandson!” (Little
did I know how short a time he would be with us and how quickly
Pepe Mo would have him for his very own.)
Every day before I
went to work, I’d sneak over to see
Marshall and get my “fix” for the day . . . and,
of course, the first thing I’d do after work is hurry home
to see Marshall again.
I had the privilege
of giving Marshall his bath on MANY occasions. That was our
special time together. As he grew a little older,
he began to coo and smile at us. He was especially talkative
after a bath. I would wrap him up in the towel and lay him on
my bed. There, he’d smile at me and we’d have our
little conversations together. Oh, how I miss bath time!
Marshall, you have touched my heart in a way that I never thought
possible! Now, when I think of you, I like to imagine you wearing
a tiny cowboy hat and riding your pony alongside your Pepe Mo.
That thought is comforting to me and brings a smile to my face
every time!
Your Memere,
Louise Berube
